Log Cabin
The high school youth group is fortunate to have a great place to gather...our own log cabin.
The 80 year old cabin is original to the property purchase by the church. After serving as church offices, Sunday school class room, nursery, then finally storage, our youth group under the direction of one of our talented youth group dads began a renovation project. From 1998-2000, under the direction of Mike Claxton, the high schoolers were taught to hang dry wall, lay a hardwood floor, lay ceramic tile, refinish floors and completely redesigned the kitchen.
Over 1,500 hours of work on the part of the youth group resulted in a great gathering place and a great experience.
In 2005, the youth upgraded the cabin once again to welcome a displaced family from New Orleans, during Hurricane Katrina.
Now, the high schoolers meet there Wednesday nights for CareS and it serves as a meeting place for other youth gatherings. It also hosts a recovery support group during the week.
