History
Priest Lake Presbyterian Church began as a new church development of the Middle Tennessee Presbytery, meeting for the first time at Lakeview Elementary School on August 15, 1981 with Dr. Donald Lagle as organizing pastor. On March 10, 1985 the Priest Lake Fellowship was chartered as a Church of Middle Tennessee Presbytery, with Dr. Donald Lagle as pastor. After Dr. Lagle’s retirement, Dr. M.B. Jackson was called as pastor. Click to see the first service bulletin.
After meeting in the log cabin on our property and worshiping in a double-wide trailer, the growing congregation built a new sanctuary in 1988 and in 1992 made a bold move of faith and added a Christian education and family life wing.
After Dr. Jackson’s departure in 1995, Rev. Carole Knight served as our interim minister until the congregation called Rev. Dr. Mark W. Stoub in March of 1998.
In July of 2003, Rev. Jonathan B. Knight came to serve as designated pastor of Priest Lake Presbyterian and was installed as our called Pastor on July 17, 2005.
In September 2005, in response to the Hurricane Katrina, the log cabin was upgraded to once again serve as a home as we welcomed a family from New Orleans.
In the Spring of 2006, PLPC was blessed with the calling of Rev. John R. Hilley to fill the position of Interim Pastor.
In the summer of 2007 PLPC called Rev. Paul M. Burns as its pastor, and he was installed September 16, 2007.
In November of 2014 Rev. Burns was called to a new calling in Garland, Texas.
Rev. Jimmie Lancaster served as interim until Pastor Cindy Schwartz arrived in July of 2017.
Our church continues to be filled with a new spirit and enthusiasm as we look toward the future.
